In the modern world, the role of embedded systems and IoT is all disseminated. IoT is bringing many things that have traditionally been part of embedded systems into the mainstream – and extending the model with greater interoperability and integration with cloud-based back-end systems. Conventional Embedded Systems are not competent to deliver what the IoT is expecting from an embedded device networked in IoT and it brings great challenges to develop or transform contemporary embedded system into an IoT enabled smart embedded system.
Familiarity with embedded systems is a great starting point. When embedded systems meet IoT, the challenge is in your ability to adapt to this faster moving, longer life, highly scalable, interoperable, commodity-based environment. With IOT, management of devices at the edge requires intelligence throughout the system, including device-level execution capabilities, remote management and provisioning capabilities at the gateway and cloud-based delivery of software updates.
